touch pad scroll not working

I have had my Insprion 6000 for about a week and the scroll sections of the touch pad have stopped working.  The right and bottom edges now are just functioning as an extension of the pad itself.  I've looked in the controll pannel and online for suggestions and help, but am coming up dry.  Is there a way that I can reactivate the scroll function?
