Touchpad Doesn't Always Respond

My laptop is still very new (just a week or two old), and even when I first got it I was having some trouble.

(Seemingly) randomly my touchpad will... I don't really know how to explain it. It will just... stop listening to me. If I try to move it, it will move a little bit, but not usually in the direction I want it to go. I can't really say it's in a certain program or if the system is slowed up by a lot of windows up or anything like that. It seems to happen whenever it chooses. Normally if I frantically move my finger around on the touchpad area it will start working properly again. It doesn't really last long, it's just a bit of a weird spazzing thing it does.

I guess my question is, is this a normal problem, or is it something I'm going to have to get fixed? I thought I would throw this out there in hopes that it wouldn't need a replacement part or whatever may fix it. Perhaps this happens to everyone? I hope not. It's quite annoying.

I'm using an Inspiron 6000 if that helps any.

I have the same problem too, i just got my inspiron 600m about 2 weeks ago. Does it happen often to you? It happens about every couple days for me and then its fine in like 5 mins. Is that the same?

Yeah, very much the same. It'll just seem to slow down and stop responding properly. Very annoying when you're in the middle of a game or something.

I've been having the same problem for months on my 9100 as have others.  It must be a bug in the touchpad drivers or a bug in the touchpad design.  I have replaced my touchpad and I still have the problem though not as bad as before.  This board has been useless to post to on this subject---no responses of merit (kind of like this one, hahaha).  I would like to hear from just one person who had this problem and got it fixed just to know what was done!  Anyway, good luck.

No...your message and others messages arent useless, because at least we know that it isnt our touchpads. i think the thing that irritates me the most is that it is fine for like 2 days and then it will do this for 5 mins and then its fine again. At first I thought that it was software that was doing to, like interfering, but I really do not think that is the case. It happens at different times under different conditions for me.

I just wish that someone from Dell would respond to at least 1 message because there are many people with the same problem...I think that would be nice.
