I followed your instructions, but I didn't see any difference. Today I tried disabling the touchpad "gestures" function and so far it appears to be working fine. When I'm typing the cursor stays in place, even when I rest my palms on the palmrest. I can move my fingers all over the touchpad it doesn't effect the cursor. I believe it was the gestures function that was causing the problem.
Apologies about the inconvenience. Inspiron 15 is available in different variants. Please share the exact system model so that I can assist you further.
I hope you can help me. I really like this laptop, except for this touchpad problem. Whenever I type, I can't touch anything except the keys. If I relax and happen to just touch the palmrest, the cursor jump to another spot.

I swore by Dell, preached Dell to all my friends and now I'm STUCK WITH 4 very, very expensive DELL Devices!! Dell's answer to the WILD CURSOR PROBLEM IS TO UPGRADE!!!
The problem with the POWER PLUG SLIDING OUT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SOLVED BY BUYING A NEW ONE FOR $69. NOT!!!!!! The new plug slides out as well!
When I thought that I was getting a good deal on a new printer, I got screwed there too! The PRINT HEAD needs to be replaced. This is a printer that I have used to PRINT 6 WHOLE PAGES! Dell's support people said that it would be cheaper for me to BUY A BRAND NEW PRINTER!!!!
My husband's newer INSPIRON LAPTOP is a NIGHTMARE TOO!!!! I've had to RELOAD HIS SOFTWARE TWICE, and it's still STINKS!!!
To make this whole situation worse, DELL is OUT SOURCING it's SUPPORT!! Their SUPPORT PEOPLE DO NOT LISTEN, AND THEIR ANSWER TO EVERYTHING IS THAT YOU'RE BETTER OFF BUYING A NEWER DELL!

Hi jayman2,
Thank you for the response. It seems that you have Inspiron 3521. Try a clean re-installation of the touch-pad drivers and let me know the outcome.
