Touchpad scroll bars stop working after installing MS Bluetooth mouse

After installing a MS Intellimouse for Bluetooth mouse and driver on my 9300, the mouse works fine, but my scroll bars on the touchpad have stopped working. The touchpad still works, but I have to mouse over to the screen elevator bars and click to scroll - what a pain. When I'm travelling, I don't usually take the mouse with me, and I really miss those scroll areas. Any ideas? My MS intellipoint driver version is 5.20.413.0 dated 6/3/04. There don't seem to be any settings related to the touchpad anymore, and I can't find any other specific properties screens for the touchpad. I seems like the mouse driver install uninstalled the original drivers. Is there anyway to have both pointing devices running their own drivers?

gregheil,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

The Microsoft Intellimouse drivers are for both USB and PS/2 mice.  Your Touchpad is a PS/2 mouse.  The Intellimouse software will overwrite the Touchpad drivers.  I know of no way to have both installed on your system.

We have the same problem on our Inspiron 6000; we uninstalled the Bluetooth mouse software and the scroll areas still don't work.  In the original reply, you confirmed the reason the scroll areas don't work (conflicting driver software), but I didn't notice any resolutions to restore their functionality.  Could you post a way to do that?

Thanks!

Just go {HERE} this will open the latest Dell ALPS Driver download for you.

This Driver was first put on the site in January and is a huge improvement from previous versions.

Just download that 2MB Zip file to your desktop and then double-click it for the un-zip and install
to happen.

As Rollie said, the IntelliPoint Driver install removed your ALPS Drivers, which leaves your GlidePoint
running on just the Windows generic touchpad driver with no scroll or other features.

When I installed my new Bluetooth IntelliMouse, I did not install ANY of the software that came
with it.

I just had my TM300 Widcomm Setup Wizard "I want to find a specific Bluetooth device ..." and I had
just installed the AA's so no need to push the "make/brake" on the mouse. The search page of the wizard
immediately said "click this to confirm install" no PIN requests or configure needed.

After that, Windows installed a whole list of Drivers for it as a "HID Device" (eight of them)
and the ALPS Panel took Control of the settings for three of the five button assignments
and the vertical scroll portion of the wheel.

Since I am happy with IntelliMouse's default of Browser Fwd/Bck on the 'Thumb Buttons' and prefer to
use the ALPS "Auto Scroll" to the "Tilt Wheel" (pressing the wheel 'middle-click' enables the two/four
headed arrow of Auto Scroll.

Hi greg,

our 6000 had the same problem after installing wireless k-b and mouse , went to mouse properties and had lost alps properties, I removed the wireless mouse properties, and did a refresh, and now i have both ,touchpad and mouse working simultaniously, dont forget to reset designated corners

hope it helps, Marc.
