Touchpad-Scrolling a webpage using your touchpad

Observing in my lecture hall today, I saw a Toshiba user scrolling through a webpage using his touchpad.

I believe if you use your finger and go up and down on the extreme right side of the touchpad, the IE webpage will scroll down.
Also if you go left to right on the top, or vice versa, you can scroll a webpage left to right.

Anyone know of a solution?

I've just come here looking for an answer to the same question, I have been sorting out an acer aspire for a mate and his synaptics touchpad does the same thing, it's a neat trick. Has anyone tried using a synaptics driver on an alps pad?

Maybe that the answer

Found the answer to my own question, its in the drivers (latest version anyway) under the gestures tab,
you can setup both vertical and horizontal.

Where can I find these settings? As in, how do I get to these settings through my comp?
I tried my device manager but I found nothing.

Thanks

You can find the settings you need in control panel / mouse.

If you have done what I did and installed mouseware or intellipoint drivers when you got your lappy, you will need to reinstall the alps drivers straight over the top of your mouse drivers, then a whole bunch of tabs will appear as if by magic in your mouse settings; including gestures, where you will find a "use scroll function" check box and to the right of that a "settings" button where you can adjust the width of your scroll area to suit.

At least that's where it all is on my I8500 with XP, mouseware 9.76 and alps 5.4.102.2.

I hope it works for you too.
