Trouble with Keeping Backlight on Keyboard Off
Hello everyone,
I have a Dell Inspiron 7548 which comes with a backlight keyboard (I bought it from a store so I couldn't opt out of the keyboard). I don't ever use the laptop in dark settings though so would like to keep the backlight on the keyboard off by default. I have already tried turning the light off on Windows Mobility Center and have also already installed Dell Quickset and updated my Bios (I think). After I turn the backlight off on my keyboard it will stay off as I work on the computer and if I restart it right away or boot it up after being in sleep mode for a short time for example.
If I keep the laptop off for some time, though, such as shut it down for the night or keep it in hibernation mode for a few hours, the light will turn back on the next time I boot up my computer. It is extremely annoying to have to turn the light off every time I boot up the computer when I haven't used the laptop for a while. How can I ensure that the backlight stays off by default for good? This seems like it should be a simple thing so I don't understand why this has turned into such a complicated process. Thanks!

I know that I can manually turn off the light from the keyboard each time, but I don't want to have to do that. It's really annoying and I just want a way to have the light be automatically off. I don't understand what is the point of having the setting to do this in Windows Mobility Center when the settings don't save.

ITRA109,
Press Fn + F10 to Turn ON / OFF the keyboard backlight. If you reboot the system the backlight keyboard will turn back on. I know of no way to turn the keyboard light off so it doesn't come back on.

itra109,
I totally agree. A lot of our systems have this option in the bios to turn if off completely. I looked in the bios and found nothing. So, unfortunately you just have to press the FN+F10 keys.

Well in the main tab of the Bios it does say Backlight for the keyboard but the option does not appear to be clickable.
Is there really no way to change this? It just seems so silly that Dell would not have included a way to save the turning off of this feature for good. It's such a simple thing.
