Upgrade

Hello,

I bought a Dell Inspiron 5160 last Christmas.  This is my first laptop (and computer).  Per the suggestion of the dell agent on the phone (last Christmas), I purchased this 5160.  I currently find myself wanting to play games on the internet and on the computer.  Unfortunately, I have recently learned that the 5160 video card is not upgradeable beyond 64MB.  This is not good if I want to play games across the internet and on the computer.  So my question is, knowing that I just spent 1500.00 last Christmas for the 5160, am I able to trade in my laptop for a better laptop that is for capable of what I want to do.  I would like to get a laptop that would not be out dated so quickly.  Thanks for your help.

You can't trade it in with Dell, and though other manufacturers will take trade-ins, you're going to find they'll allow you about 10-20% of market value (which of itself will be about 30% of what you paid).

Sell the system privately, and next time, buy one that meets your needs. Among the Dells, go no lower than the Inspiron 9300 with the 6800 video - better yet, go for an XPS M170 with the 7800 video.

Will Dell do upgrades . We bought our Inspiron in August, but now need a bigger hard drive and would like a DVD burner as well.

I don't believe Dell will, but it is not a complex procedure. Any local PC shop should be able to take care of it for you, if you don't wish to do it yourself.
