Upgrading graphics on a 6000

I just got my 6000 and was wondering if the graphics can be upgraded the 64M Radeon Mobility x300 in the field. Is it somnething I can do or will I need to return it for the upgrade if it can even be upgraded?

THanks all

x300 64 mb can be upgraded to the x300 128 later if you wish, but Dell will probably not upgrade it further.  That's if you got the 6000d, and not the plain 6000, that cannot be upgraded from the basic integrated video, that shares memory from the system itself.  If you want to play some games somewhat well ( With the settings set lower ), stay away from the 6000 system, and focus on the 6000d system instead.   If you got the plain 6000, than send it back before the 21 day return policy period....Hope this helps a little...

Forgot to include, that many can upgrade the video at home, but some who need more assistance, will have to have someone else do it for them.

Thanks SR45. I was in a hurry when typing the first message and left out that this is a 6000 with the Integrated Intel 915 GM graphics adapter. Not sure if that's what you mean by "plain 6000" but I'm guessing it is.

Main reason I'm wondering about the capabilities is because my wife is a photographer and has just gone digital. I will do some still editing as I have been with my Dimension desktop but since I ordered a DVD-RW I was going to put together some DVD business cards, i.e. still shots and animations, MAYBE some video. In you opinion is the Radeon a must have for something like this or will I be able to get by with the Intel graphics?

I plan on doing some touch up this weekend so I'll have a better feel but was just wondering if others have been down this road.

PS I'm not much of a gamer so I wouldn't count those level graphics capabilties as a requirement.

Good question, but I'm not the one to answer it...Hope someone else can weigh in on this.  I thought I heard sometime ago, that if someone wishes to do some editing, they would need something better than the integrated video, not sure.  Hang on and hopefully someone will come by to assist.
The X300, offered on the other 6000d system, is really not a gamer video card, but if I were you, and I'm not, try to get the 6000d system.  Deals are offered often and coupons are everywhere if you need to budget.  You do have the 21 day satisfaction to send the system back for something else, so keep that in mind...
