usb 3.0 extensible host controller error windows 8.1

i have a laptop DELL INSPIRON 15R SE 7520.

I attached a usb controller to my laptop for which i got an error "Windows has stopped this device" it stated me with error code 43.

For which i goto my laptop's device manager and tried to update my usb drivers, but unfortunately a driver when was updated got removed from the list. It was "USB 3.0 extensible host controller". And then my laptop's usb ports stopped functioning.

I tried to disable and enable other usb drivers, uninstall other usb drivers and also tried to install usb 3.0 extensible host controller but it gave me an error that my system didn't meet minimum system requirement to install the software.

now none of my usb port is functioning, please help me solve this problem.

i cant live without these ports when whole of my work are related to them whether its mouse, keyboard, pen drives etc etc.

If this is something that has recently just started happening I suggest using system restore and try restoring the notebook before you connected the USB controller.  What mentioned it was a USB controller, what is the brand and model of the device that you tried to connect?  You may want to check with the manufacturer for a possible solution.

If you continue to have problems and are either unable to run system restore, or system restore didn't help I suggest installing the following drivers Intel HM77 chipset driver.

You may wish to run diagnostics to verify the hardware is still functional,  start the system while tapping F12 and choose diagnostics from the menu.  This will start the PSA diagnostics allow them to complete and at the end if you are given the option to run hardware tests please do so and choose custom tests and choose the USB test.  If you receive any errors on the USB test they may be a defect on the system board / daughter board and will need a service.

If the problem continues with no failures running diagnostics, and system restore or reinstalling drivers doesn't help you should consider backing up your data if possible, and reinstall Windows.
