USB detection problems

Question

I have a Latitude D600, and i have got a problem with USB: although there isn't any USB connected to the laptop windows continuosly annoying me with a usb detection error message in the system tray says: 'one or more USB peripherials has an error...' When I look at hardware peripherials I see an 'unknown device' under one of the USB hubs, that sometimes changes it's icon with a Bluetooth icon. If I install the peripherial it becomes a 'Dell Truemobile Bluetooth ...something' but nothing changes, the usb still annoying me in the system tray... :(

Hi Dreaadnought,

Got very similar problem with annoying USB error message popup in the system tray:

"one of the USB Devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it. For assistance please click this message blabla"

I tried everything, even deleted the particular USB root causing this problem to force re-detection, and i can't seem to get it resolved?

Did you get anywhere?

Any ideas?

you're right, 2 week ago a dell technician replaced my D600 motherboard under my eyes. Good job! :)

The issue your having is with the internal bluetooth conneciton on the motherboard.  We had this issue with pretty much all of our D600 laptops in our company.  Dell should be aware of this problem and should issue a motherboard replacment.

Same here !   Although it took a lot of e-mails to tech support to get them to diagnose and send an engineer. A bit surprising when this is a common fault.
