VGA card not working (code 10)
Following a hard disk crash (Studio 1555), I have reinstalled Windows, then the drivers from my CD ROM, but probably not in the right order.
Now my VGA card is not working, and displays an error code 10.
What should I do ?
Thanks,
Philippe

Does your system have Intel or ATI video (the BIOS boot screen F2 at powerup - will tell you).

In order, load:
The Dell system software (under system utilities),
The chipset driver (under chipset)
The Intel video driver (under Video)

I don't think my PC has a graphics card, it just has an Intel CPU, and the configuration panel states that the "standard VGA card" is not working (code 10).
I haven't loaded the ATI nor Intel video pilots, for I thought these were dedicated to specific graphics cards (and the CD containing the drivers didn't detect any video hardware)

when I wish to install the Intel video driver, the PC tells me that I do not have the required hardware configuration to install it.
the problem is still present.
Now, I have installed drivers (system software and chipset) initally from the CD-ROM, then also from the internet site (to try latest version), nothing changes ... and I'm wondering if I do not have too many drivers running in parallel.
what a mess !!! and the quality of the images on the screen is quite poor.
I would have thought it is easier to change a HDD on a Dell PC !!

What OS and version are you installing? You MUST install the notebook system software and chipset drivers before the video driver will load.

OS = windoows vista 64 Kb/s
I have installed the system software and the chipset drivers, but the video driver keeps on telling me that I do not have the right hardware configuration for the driver to be installed

Are you certain you're installing the right driver? Check the BIOS screen (F2 at powerup). It will tell you whether you have Intel or ATI video.
If it's ATI, you must also have the dot.net framework installed before the driver will load.

I do not see any Intel or ATI video on my BIOS screen, I just have a "standard VGA card" coming from "configuration panel".
SHould I delete and reinstall all drivers ? If yes, how should I do this (to delete drivers) ahd should I reinstall from the CD-ROM (which is 4 years old) or from the internet site (in which case, I still need to have WiFi driver)
