Video Card Drivers
Ok, I guess I aught to start with what has been going wrong. Last week I wiped the hard drive (after seeing the blue screen of death several times while trying to boot the computer) on this computer, reinstalled windows, and thought I had fixed everything, and from what I have seen I have. But, I guess my problem is I don't know exactly what I'm doing, because once I set up my options downloaded Firefox and Itunes and installed World of Warcaft onto this machine. Having done this I started up World of Warcaft and after clicking the Play button from the news screen that loads when you start the game came across this message: ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception Program: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 001B:0068FDB5 ...and so on. (There is a complete posting of this common error here http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t6537.html) I glanced over the forums and did what I could do with very little computer knowledge, I upped my RAM I installed DirectX I reinstalled WoW but cannot seem to get the program to work, but instead of the OMG! I CAN'T TELL YOU WHATS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH YOUR MACHINE!!11!!111!1!! (And send me to troll through old forums and hope I can figure out wehat those tech savy people are talking about) I get this message: World of Warcaft was unable to start up 3D acceleration. Make sure DirectX 9.0c is installed and your video drivers are up-to-date. (Before the screen that shows Blizzard news) I'm fairly cirtain that DirectX 9.0 is on my computer (It installed before I installed the original game from the disks) and I'm pretty sure that the problem is that I don't have the drivers for my video card anddon't know how to get them. I have already tried to install NVida's grapphics driver to 71.89 (which is proposed in the link above) but to no avail it said something to the lines of: NVida cannot find anything that would need this driver. Anyway, does anyone know how to figure out how to download the drivers or get the computer to realize there is a video card in there or figure out what model of a video card (on a lap top) so I can get the drivers nessisary for running World of Warcraft?
