Viewing multiple websites
Hello,
Is it possible, if I add another monitor, to view multiple pages or websites? I have been told that this is possible but that I need some software to do it. can anyone help me?

Hi,
I don't think that you need any third-party software to do this. Depending on your system and video card you only need the latest video drivers to accomplish this.
Be sure to enable the second monitor in the display properties, and set your configuration to "extended desktop" (as opposed to "clone") option. That way, you will be able to litteraly drag an Internet Explorer window onto the second monitor and open a new one on your primary monitor.
I do this all the time, i.e. have one software running on my primary monitor and open my internet browser window (or any other app, besides games) onto the extended desktop monitor. All of this without any other software.
Just be sure that your video card supports having two monitors and also supports the extended desktop option (which is a common thing, except maybe on some video cards).
Give us your inspiron model and video card model and we'll be able to tell you if it's possible at all and if possible, how to do it.
Hoping this helps,
Rick

Hi Rick,
Thanks for your speedy reply. My INSPIRON model number is 5100 and I have a MOBILITY RADEON 7500 display adaptor. I am not sure if this is the information you require, but if it isn't tell me where I get the correct info and I will send it to you.
I did try to set a second monitor up, but all I could do was switch between monitor and laptop, I couldnt get two seperate windows displayed. Hope you can help me, thanks again

Me again,
Couple of other things that may help you.
When I click on the second monitor icon I get the following message "Your selected configuration is not available since a portion of your extended desktop would not be visible. Please change these settings"
Also, when the monitor or laptop is not the primary display the desktop icons do not appear, the scren is blank apart from the wallpaper.
