Dell is already selling systems with Windows Vista. It is available for home/home office customers, small business customers, medium and large business customers, as well as government, education, and healthcare customers. In many cases, Dell is still offering the option to purchase one of the several versions of Windows XP as well as Vista.
The SD card works flawlessly with the built in drivers Vista has, for the Ricoh card controller.
In fact, the 6400 works flawlessly, and so far every bit of 32 bit software, I've installed is working fine. I've installed games from 1998 and up, they all work, of course compatibility mode was needed for some. That was expected. All the bad mouthing Vista has gotten, must be coming from those who don't know how to run an OS efficiently, or they didn't use Vista Compatible Hardware
(I built a Vista Ultimate Gamer with a quad-core 2.93Ghz 8MB L2 on ASUS Striker with 2 BFG 8800GTX's it works great)
.Also, I bought them both from Dell, as I was told all Support would be from them.
(I turns out I was sent the full Edt. so Microsoft supports the OS for 180 days) Dell supports the hardware. I contacted Dell Tech. they directed me to the 64 bit downloads page for the 6400,
but there isn't any drivers I haven't already downloaded.
As for Dell Tech Support, Dell will support only the operating system which came factory installed on your computer. Dell does not sell "Dell-Branded" operating systems separately. If you purchase any operating system from Dell separately from a complete system, it will be supported by the maker of that OS.
