Start by running the hardware diagnostics,tap F12 on start up,select diagnostics.
Post back any error/code message.
If the test passes without any error,check if system boots to safemode,tap F8 on start up.
Also since you saw this message of "critical temperature shutdown in power events",make sure the air vent is clean and check if the system is overheating.
