Word Pad Documents

Hello, I am having trouble with my documents, I attend college and when I go online to pull up my assignments they all show up in WordPad.  How do I change this so my documents will automatically pull up in word.  Thanks!!

Hi Sfrudd39,

You would need to change the file association type to Microsoft Word. You may refer to the following link for more information http://bit.ly/Ynsljq -> click on If a program does not show up in the Programs list option.

You have to have word installed. If you don't then you would need to install office.

If Office is installed it could be that you do not have access privalages to change the file association.

Step 1
Open Microsoft Word.
Step 2
Click on the 'Open' button that looks like a file folder, or click on the File drop-down menu and select 
'Open.' Select 'All Documents,' since selecting 'All Word Documents' may hide the WordPad documents.
Step 3
Select the WordPad document on your PC and click 'OK.' The document will open in Word for you.
Step 4
Save the document as a Word document. This is just a matter of opening the 'File' drop-down menu again, and selecting 'Save As..
' instead of 'Save.' Then for the format option, select 'Word Document.'
 This may trigger a dialogue box that asks you if you really want to convert it. Answer that you do.
