x300 will only boot when docked
Not only does it crash (blue screen) when undocking, it even gives the same crash after a proper, successful power-down, remove-from-dock, then power-up. The only way to boot without a BSOD is while docked. I've updated every driver I can, except some *.SYS files relating to the CD which I'm still working on (but I can free remove or boot without the CD, so I don't suspect them).
Any ideas? It's quite frustrating to carry around my docking station - especially with the x300 - I bought it because of the small size in the 1st place!
Thanks in advance,
Brad

Fixed it. I deleted the undocked hardware profile, so that the next time I undocked, it was re-built.
Control panel -> System -> Hardware tab -> Hardware profiles
select undocked
click the delete button
click OK
now undock.
Hope this works for you. I think the problem resulted from either 1 of 2 things:
1) Maybe when I upgraded from Win2k to XP only the docked profile was updated, since I was docked at the time (or some variation on this)
or
2) I once made the mistake of undocking my computer without pressing the undock button. This resulted in a BSOD, but shouldn't this go away on its own? What lasting effect could this have had on my undocked hardware profile?
Good luck, anyway. I couldn't find anything on a web search.
