XPS 12 - Flip view vertically

Is there a possibility to flip the displayed view vertically, so that if I flipped the screen backwards in LT-Mode, the taskbar is on the bottom-side.

Right now, there are no problems with rotating the view in 90°. But if I want the view to be rotated in 180° it's not working.
Is this even possible with the XPS12 Hardware?

cheers

I flip mine in tablet mode so the win8 button is on the top and then lock the autorotate, when I open it into a laptop the screen remains upside down, so it can be viewed properly from the 'back'

Hi BenGe89,

The auto-rotate button on the left of the system enables the user to set whether they would like the screen to auto-rotate or remain locked in position even if the system is rotated.
For example, if the auto-rotate feature is disabled, the screen would not rotate if the user decides to change from landscape mode to a portrait mode. When user presses the auto-rotate button a message appears on the screen indicating the mode selected, apart from this momentary on screen message there is no other visible indicator to tell you if the auto-rotate is currently enabled or disabled on the system.

This image illustrates the location of the Auto-Rotate button on the XPS 12.

The Auto-Rotate button controls the Gyro Sensor on the system; hence in case of problems with screen rotation, the following troubleshooting steps can be performed.

  1. Press the Auto-Rotate button and attempt to rotate the screen. If the Auto-Rotate feature is turned off, user will face an issue with the screen rotation. If you do not feel the button action as you normally do, the I/O daughter-board should be replaced.
  2. Some applications conflict with the Gyro Sensor, try uninstalling any apps that were recently installed.
  3. If the above steps fail, refresh the operating system (new Windows 8 feature) which will ensure that despite restoring to factory settings, data is preserved.
  4. If the above steps fail, the system board will have to be replaced as the Gyro Sensor is located on the system board.

Please try the above steps and reply for any further help.

Hi Nikhil,

Just bought an XPS12, and I am having the same issues as BenGe89 was having.

I don't want to do what was suggested by another user, which was to manually rotate the screen & then disable the autorotate function.

This solves the immediate problem but does not answer the question of why the screen doesn't automatically flip 180deg, when you flip the screen.

It is supposed to do that right ? That's what it says in the video; when you flip the screen, a person sitting opposite you should be able to see the screen in the correct orientation, not upside down.

Your explanation above is for display rotation when the notebook is physically rotated; not when the scree is flipped to face "backwards".

Can you help me with why my display does not automatically flip 180deg, along with the screen ?

Thanks.
