XPS M1330 - different problems with LCD screen
Hello. I have a Dell XPS M1330 since almos a year and this is happening in the last few days:
- Sometimes I turn on the computer and the LCD screen is black with the backlight on.
- Sometimes I turn on the computer, it botts ok and during the session, after a screen resolution change, the screen only shows vertical color lines in different sections of the screen.
- Sometimes the vertical lines are there as soon as I turn on the computer.
The computer works fine, in fact, if I connect an external monitor I can see everything even with the LCD black or with vertical lines.
Whan can be causing this?
Can this be related to the known isssue with the nVidia chipset?
Thanks in advance and have a happy 2010!!!

Yes, it is almost certainly a faulty nVidia chip. The system board will need to be replaced.

Thanks for replying!
One last question only to be sure: The known problem with nVidia causes the LCD failure even when the external monitor works?
Thanks so much in advance!

Sorry - I missed that. No, then the video chip is fine - it's the display panel that needs to be replaced (that is not covered by the extended warranty).
