I will be watching this thread with interest, hope to hear some news from Chris.
My 2407WFP will be going back due to some serious colour banding, also, we planning on buying a PS3 very soon.
On a quick note, my son was playing Morrowind on my PC with the 2407WFP, the max res of the game is 1600 by 1200, the monitor stretches the game to fill the screen, characters look like hamburguers.... There is no setting that fixes this, only "FILL" option available, "WideScreen" greyed out. That is just one example, I certainly would want my monitor to display my games from PS3 to be displayed at 1920 by 1080 and not stretched to fill the 1920 by 1200.
I am going to wait to hear something on this 1:1 mapping issue, definetively a serious one, till I contact Dell for a solution.

BajaCapt,

Tell him to back the game resolution to 1280x1024. Does he have the widescreen options?

Chris,
The game available resolutions are;
1600-1200
1152-864
1024-768
800-600
640-480

I tried the 1152 by 864 and the 'Wide Mode" option becomes available I then chose 1:1 and the monitor handles the 1:1 maping fine but then ofcourse you waste a lot of this monitors awesome real state. The monitor should handle 1:1 mapping at all resolutions. At 1600 by 1200 I would only have black bars at the sides of the monitor and the complete height of it would be used which is the way it should be.
Below are some shots I took for reference.
At 1152 by 864

And at 1600 by 1200

My monitor is a A03, does the A04 addresses this issue?
Thanks

1:1 mapping in 1600 x 1200 mode is only supported on revision A04 of the Dell 2407WFP; I own both Rev.A03 and Rev.A04 panels and can confirm this. Please note that not all resolutions will support enabling the 1:1, Aspect and Fill options. One example would be if the video card (or other output device) resolution matches the native resolution of 1920 x 1200, this option is disabled. Likewise I've found that if the horizontal resolution matches 1920, these options also appear to be disabled regardless of the vertical resolution. I haven't been able to get 1920 x 1080 to display black bars at the top and bottom of the screen as you would expect there to be.

...which is what I said a long time ago. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand the issue under discussion here.

Dehl, Is this true for both for DV-I and VGA? I´m starting to find it wierd that no one from Dell can confirm the 1:1 mapping issues concering the PS3 though.. Shouldn´t be sp hard to get the tech guys to find som definitive answers to this question..

Unfortunately I do not own a PS3, so I can only tell you about my experiences with my PC, my Mac or my PS2, and about what I've found on the Web. Maybe if Dell sold Sony's PS3 instead of or as well as Microsoft's Xbox 360, we could get an answer to this question once and for all.

BTW: I haven't tried the VGA connection as I've only used DVI since I bought these panels, so I cannot confirm at this point if 1:1 mapping is different somehow between the two inputs. Sorry.

Yeah, so why did they put 1:1 in Rev04, Perhaps they shouldn´t they have tested it when they put it in?

1:1 existed in Rev.A03; It just didn't support some resolutions people were complaining about. Rev.A04 added some resolutions, and changed a few things in the user menu such as how the Brightness control now affects black level.

Dell 2407WFP Rev.A04 1:1 Pixel Mapping (PC Tested Only)

DVI-I

1920x1200  *1
1920x1080  *2
1680x1050 Yes
1600x1200 Yes
1600x900  *2
1280x1024  *3
1152x864 Yes
1024x768 Yes
800x600  Yes

*1 - Native resolution; it *is* already 1:1 so you can't change it.
*2 - My nVidia driver disallows selecting "monitor scaling". I suspect the monitor isn't reporting this as a supported resolution, which would explain why some others have had issues with it.
*3 - Yes, but tearing exists when motion occurs mid-screen

VGA

1920x1200  *1
1920x1080 Yes
1680x1050 Yes
1600x1200 Yes
1280x1024 Yes
1280x800 Yes
1280x768 Yes
1280x720  *4
1152x864 Yes
1024x768 Yes
800x600 Yes
*1 - Native resolution
*4 - Yes, but with synchronization issues. I haven't tried adjusting any settings to fix the issue.

Component

1280x720 Yes
1216x692 Yes
1216x684 Yes
1216x676 Yes
1088x612 Yes
800x600 Yes
1080p -
1080i  *5
720p Yes
576p Yes
576i Yes
480p Yes
480i Yes

- - My video card doesn't support this resolution.
*5 - Yes, but interlacing causes annoying flickering

Tests were done using a PC with an XFX GeForce 6800 Xtreme Dual DVI-I HDTV-Out video card and nVidia's latest drivers.

Anybody who knows how to be sure to get a Rev04? I need 4:3 format with VGA input. Will Dell gurantee that I get a Rev04 if I ask for it?

Well, that´s what most of us is asking for. Some kind of official confirmation of the 1:1 mapping function. Does anybody know any direct communication to the Dell more brainy techs? The usual callcenter types doesn´t seem to got it.

Yep the problem is when people go try using it for something other than pc use. Where either driver software can't be set. Like me I use it for high def viewing a LOT of the time. Nothing worse than having that high content being stretched because you cant set the display to 1:1 for the source. Especially since it clearly has a function labeled just that, thats why people are angry about it.

Then theres the pc gamers who play at 1600x1200 who get their games stretched. People who play games at that res, and watch high def content CARE about picture quality. Its probably the main reason they bought the  display in the first place, because of its res and they assumed with 1:1 pixel mapping they figured it'd be perfect for anything they wanted to use it for, which turns out wasn't the case.

Then there was the on no its not really HDCP compliant, which I guess turns out it is, but only for certain devices, although I guess that not being the displays fault. Seriously if you fixed the  1:1 mapping do you have any idea how top notch this display is, people seriously would never buy another brand. The banding and 1:1 has cost you millions in sales I'd bet. And made half of those who did buy grumpy. Hey heres an idea make displays with firmware that can be updated by the user, I mean seriously how hard is it. Everything else in pc land can be.

All,

Looks like the A04s are shipping as exchanges. See the last post by Choira.

Chris, Are you saying that we can initiate an exchange if we are bothered by the Pixel Mapping issue?
