1703 FP

Question

I have a new Dell computer and monitor for about a month now. The monitor is letting me down. When I start the computer the screen flashes on and off with a DELL logo and a logo 'GENESIS...' the power button is flashing 'green - orange - off'. I have tried the self test with the video cable unhooked: seems ok It happens with both the VGA cable and DVI cable (seperate of course) I can't get in the menu of the monitor, the buttons don't work except for the input selector. During the self test i can change the input. The computer works fine with an old CRT monitor The FP doesn't work on another computer either. I hope someone can help me, the helpdesk is always closed when i come home from work. Dimension 8300 P4 2.8    ATI RADEON 9800     1703FP

Bridget551, Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum. If you cannot get the monitor to work you can email support@dell.com and have the monitor replaced.

I see a similar thing.  The monitor comes on about 60% of the time.  The other times, it does exactly what you're talking about.  It's almost as though the standby state toggles to on, and then off.
