1703fp resolution other than optimal
Is there a way to achieve acceptable text and graphics quality with a resolution of 1024 x 768 on a Ultrasharp 1703fp? I can hardly read text with its native resolution of 1280 x 1024. Discard large size (120dpi) fonts 'cause they produce distortions. Are there a solution for this issue? Any idea will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PS: I've just ordered a Dimension XPS Gen 3 with this monitor and now I found out they don't work well with a resolution other than its optimal or native.

The native resolution for the 1703FP is 1280x1024
Perhaps this is why its too small.

Yes, you're right. It was a typing mistake, 1200 x 1024 is what a meant.
Corrected at original post.

I have the same problem with mine. See post by Grec today, it covers the same issues.
I brought the monitor to work (it is my home system) to connect it to my work computer and see if it was the monitor or the video card - The monitor was no better at work.
Dell replaced the monitor with a new one - no better. If you need to describe the problem, see my post today because I've provided a link to a page that illustrates the problem. The page on the link is not quite as bad as the monitor display, but it works for illustrative purposes.
Good luck, I'm ready to give up.

1. increase dpi to 106.
2. right click on desktop|properties|appearance|advanced
increase the all the fonts to size 11.
3. use opera browser, www.opera.com, you can easily zoom in with opera, change the default page size to zoom +130%.
go to preferences|fonts
increase the minimum font size to 14.
this is the screenshot of my browser, the font size is perfect:

4. for the websites that only work in IE, use Maxthon, it can zoom in easily, unlike stupid IE.

wiht the above steps, i can use the native resolution with the fonts size that dont hurt my eyes.
