1704FTP Ultrasharp lines...

Can anyone tell me why I have little faint gray lines going accross my screen? I have tried several different resolutions but that didn't help them from not showing up. Could this because of power interference? or could there be something wrong with the monitor?  It do have it setup through the VGA cord...Would the digital cable help this?

Make sure you do not have something near by, such as a speaker that is not shielded or under some types of lighting that may cause screen problems.  Use only the native resolution to your monitor.  Make sure the cable is secured, both on the monitor and the video card.  Push in on the monitor reset button in front to see if this helps.  Make sure your video card did not come loose from the video slot as well.  You can try the DVI cable to see if this improves the problem..  If none of these help, call Dell right up, and see if they can find a solution.  If not, they will send out a replacement.  If the monitor is under the 21 day return policy period, Dell will give you a new monitor, if not, than they may send out a refurbished monitor.

agill81,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the lines on your monitor.

  • Perform monitor reset
  • Push Auto Adjust button
  • Adjust Phase and Clock controls via OSD
  • Perform monitor self-test feature check and determine if these lines are also in self-test mode
  • Check for bent or broken pins
