It should be a like for like exchange if under warranty. But, if none is available, they will find the closest one that matches the specifications.

Chris - many thanks.

It is out of warranty, but I'm looking for a short-term solution before purchasing a new system.

Can anyone suggest an alternative ? (support.euro.dell.com cannot trace the order & customer numbers supplied at the time of purchase, and submitting the tag doesn't appear to list the components)

I am not sure that a direct replacement is possible, as sales enquiries via Dell Chat received replacement monitor recommendations which were exclusively 'widescreen' and non-Ultrasharp alternatives:

* UK Sales - E1911 19 inch 48 cm Monitor

* US Sales - IN1920 18.5 inch 47cm Monitor

I ultimately bought the Dell Professional P1911 monitor (widescreen), which is about 2 inches shallower in vertical screen height vs. the original monitor (Ultrasharp 1901FP 19 inch).

Other users in a similar situation may also wish to consider the following models, which appear to retain the same aspect ratio as the 1901FP:

* Dell UltraSharp 2007FP 20 inch LCD Monitor (max. 1600x1200)

* Dell Professional P190S 19 inch Monitor (1280x1024)

Dave.
