No, when you push the input select you are selecting either DVI or Analog. For instance, If you had an analog hookup to your monitor , then it would display that computers output. Since you don't though, it just gives you the test pattern.

Hi,

Thanks very much!

But if I have a DVI connection, why is it displaing an Analog self test. You say it is an input select button, is there a way of selecting digital, and should it be set to digital anyway?

Thanks again!

Thanks very much again for your reply.

My question is regarding the floating self test when I push the "Input Select" button rather than when there is no signal at all. I.e. when the monitor is on and working and I press the "Input Select", shouldn't I get the "Digital Input" floating self-test because it has a digital, i.e. DVI connection?  Could this indicate a problem in that it is only seeing an analog signal?

Thanks again.

Don't confuse things,  The floating 'Dell - self-test Feature Check' dialog will also appear on-screen (against a black background) if the monitor cannot sense a video signal. Depending upon the selected input, one of the dialogs shown below will scroll continually. See more on your monitor and how to use it in the users guide linked here. It is a good monitor and you will enjoy it. Have fun

Please read my previous reply and your users manual. It is a select button. There is no signal on the analog input, so you get the box. Pretty simple really. The answer is your monitor is working exactly as it was designed. Enjoy it.  Have a nice weekend.
