Hello,

I want to buy the Dell 1905 FP TFT cause it was tested very good in a german pc-magazin.

Now I read about your problems with the "ghosting". Have you solved these problems? Has the ghosting gone? Was your TFT damaged?

Thnx a lot!

Unfortunately, I also had to select a different monitor. I ended up with a Samsung 712N 17" LCD. I have found it to be far superior to the 1905FP, although I (very slightly) miss the larger screen.

I went through two of the 1905FP monitors and both of them had severe ghosting issues. I would strongly recommend a different choice. The 2001FP I use at work seems to be vasty superior.

Although I was disappointed with Dell for advertising this monitor as having reduced ghosting, I would like to offer Kudos to Dell support for helping me sort everything out quickly.

I thought I was the only one! It has been over a month and I'm on the second monitor, still with horrible problems! This ghosting is rediculous, I am going to demand something else. I spent so much and yet it is such a bad monitor! What did you guys do? Help me out =)

Ghosting is when you move something quickly, and you can see a trail of it behind.

It really gives a headache in a fast past 3d video game as if makes you feel like you're tripping on acid.

The reason I'm posting is I just received my 1905FP and hooked it up last night (January 24, 2005) and it is HORRIBLE with ghosting.

I'm sending it back.

Probably get the 20" wide screen.

Maybe it's a marketing ploy.

Really dissappointed here.

What game are you getting ghosting from? I have run Nascar Racing 2002, 2003 and the new EA Sports Nascar 2005 demo, Flight Simulator 2004, Combat Flight Simulator , Combat Flight Simulator 2 and 3 with no ghosting at all.

Running 1280x1024@60hz native resolution.

I do have a very pronounced "backlight leakage" on the lower left of the screen. I have just sent tech support an e-mail and will probably let them replace it (just received the monitor 1/24/04). There is very, very slight leakage in the other corners but you really have to look close on a total black background to notice.

Ghosting is much less noticeable in racing games, flight sims, rts games, and pretty much anything that isn't an FPS. There is far less motion that involves the entire screen in those games, whereas with an FPS every move shifts everything on the screen all at once. If you think about it, turning around a track or diving in a plane occurs far more slowly than twitching your view one way or another in an FPS. I can see MAYBE using the 1905 for non-FPS games, but for any type of shooter...no way.

I just tried Medal of Honor, Battlefield 1942 and Battlefield Vietnam still not noticing any ghosting. Running the latest nVidia drivers.

Other than the backlight leakage as noted above I am very pleased with this monitor.

Well, I gotta say congratulations to you...:) Seriously I think you are pretty lucky. I went through two of these and I know a couple other people who tried them and you are the only one who has had any luck.

I received the replacement 1905FP and it has no leakage at all. The first one I had was defective not only the backlight leakage but the display looked sorta washed out. The new one looks much better, the colors especially look better.

I guess I am lucky in that the ghosting is not bad at all for me.

I got delivery of this monitor - but wasnt able to test it until yesterday - and I was shocked it was so bad.

I'm trying to play CounterStrike on it and the blackness streaks across the screen making me nauseous.

Ive used Dell LCD monitors before and this is the worse of any monitor I've ever seen.
Even scrolling down this forum causes streaks to run up the screen.

A Dell friend says its one of two things

1. Incorrect Hz is selected
2. Faulty Monitor.

My Hz is set at Optimum 60Hz - so its either faulty or there is a reason they were selling these off cheap.

I've tried to capture what it looks like on video - but its much worse in real life - check out the black wheels on the cars.

I'll contact Dell tomorrow - but has anyone got a replacement FP1905 that they were happy with? Should I go with replacment or buy another brand - I dont want to pay any more - it was pricey as it was.

oh - and there was 1 dead pixel also.

That is exactly what both of the 1905FP displays I went through looked like. Sorry man, I think that is just the way they are. It seems like RhinNC just got really lucky.
