Is there a formal term to use when speaking of this issue? Ghosting? Burn in?

This seems common in these. the problem is a component inside the panel. Most people don't have the means to repair. This model is therefore on my list to acquire and figure out what goes wrong with them.

My investigation of this defect leads me to think it is partial delamination of the polarizer film. It is caused by heat or humidity breaking the adhesive bond. If you can find anything to confirm (or discredit) this please post it.

Well I can say that the monitor has not been exposed to unusual heat nor humidity in the 2 years I've owned it.

I wonder if cigarette smoke could be an issue?

The lines on the monitor disappear after leaving the power off for 24 hours. When powered back on, they reappear, slowly at first, then darker and more prominent as the hours pass.

I read your post and my 1905fp Ultrasharp has the same problem. I called Dell and these monitors have a three year warranty. tech support had me try another video source and cable, it is the monitor and a new\another one is on the way. thanks to your post, maybe you can do the same?? Good luck.

Hey, thanks a lot. I'll call Dell.

Will advise.
