vlad840,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

I emailed you the dvi.zip file. Please check your email.

Thanks for the email Jesse! Just thought I would supply a little feedback.

I did get in contact with Tech Support on Saturday. I ran the DVI fix for about 30 minutes, and this did help the display, but not fully. There is nothing displayed until the computer gets to the Windows login. All Post information does not display, (hence I cannot get into the computer's BIOS). Otherwise, the display works correctly. Tech Support is sending out a Refurbished replacement monitor.

DELL-Jesse,

You stated you emailed me the "recovery.zip" file which I did not receive. I received a "DVI_Recover.zip" file which seemed to help with the screen blanking intermittently, but is there actually another file called "recovery.zip" or are they the same? I still get some graphics corruption during bootup at times, and even flickering pixels only with my GeForce cards in Windows XP. My ATI cards don't seem to have this issue. If there is another file, then can you please email me.

Thanks for all your help. Love my 2001FP!

Has there been any progress in resolving this issue? It is getting terribly inconvenient to hook up a different monitor whenever I wish to change something in the computer's BIOS.

Hello,

The problem is finally solved now. The solution (for the ATI Radeon) is not difficult at all, but I am not going to share it here on the forum because nobody of Dell has even taken the effort to reply regarding my issue. ("Thanx, but no thanx Dell!)"

Dell doesn't know the answer and they are surely not getting the solution from me.

What fix for the ATI no one knows of it over at rage3d. I'm still being ignored each time I request the file thats supposed to fix the problem. Dell very poor tech support is now legendary.

So I'll ask again can you send me the file that supposedly fixes the boot up problem.

I think that I have the same problem.

I have contacted Dell Tech support, they couldn't fix my problem and had me reformat my hard drive 3 times and told me he'll get back to me the next day which he never did.

I have a ATI 9600 Pro with Dell FP2001. Everything was working before I got the FP2001.

After I connected the monitor to my Dell Demension 4300, my computer keep restarting by itself.

The Dell support asked me to reformat my computer and "Do Not" install any video driver.

I am now still using the driver build in from window xp which is not acceptable.

Can anyone else help me with this issue please?

I appear to have the same problem. I have an Asus A7N8X connected via DVI, and onboard video from an MSI K7N2G connected via D-Sub. I never have an issue with the Asus, but the D-Sub connection will not exit power-save mode, no matter how many times I move my mouse or keyboard.

If the Zip files mentioned above correct this issue, can Dell please forward them to me?

Thank you!

I just got my 2001fp a few weeks ago and I'm having this same problem. I can't see any of the bios/post info and if it goes into standby all I get is a blank screen when I try to wake it up. Turning the monitor off and back on again seems to bring it back to life, but its really annoying. My video card is nVidia 6800GT. If the recovery.zip file that was talked about earlier would solve my problem, I'd appreciate receiving a copy.

I too am having this problem with my Dell 2001FP. I spent 2 fruitless hours on the phone this morning in a vain attempt to get help. I ended up being continuously transferred to different support people. Anyway, I heard that there was a firmware update for the monitor, but they may be talking about this mysterious recovery.zip that people are talking about here.

Specifically, my problem is when Windows Power Saving turns off the monitor, it won't come back - I end up hitting the power button on my PC to hibernate and then resueme - this gives me a 50% chance of getting video back.

The problem only happens with the DVI input and not with the VGA input.

Any help would be appreciated.

It seems pointless to keep posting here. My first post was 10-23-04, and I've not heard anything from Dell about the supposed "fix" for their product.

HELLO?

Well, here is a link (my own hosting) to a file that they emailed me.  I don't know why they don't host a link to it:

I will remove the file if bandwidth becomes an issue. I hope by posting this that Dell will host this file themselves and post a link to the file. It seemed to help my issue with my monitor.

Thanks, Wing. Apparently Dell's forums are really about public support rather than vendor support. Their support model completely baffles me.
