2001FP Resolution

I have a brand new Dell 2001FP. It's max resolution is 1600 x 1200. I would like to achieve a resolution of 1920 x 1200 which I ran before on a CRT. Is there a way to trick the monitor to display that resolution, even if I lose some of the display quality? My display card will go that high, but the monitor tells me it cant display that mode.

louie_a,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are the specs on this monitor.

Resolution

Horizontal scan range 31 kHz to 80 kHz (automatic)
Vertical scan range 56 Hz to 76 Hz, exception 1600 x 1200 at 60 Hz only
Optimal preset resolution 1600 x 1200 at 60 Hz
Highest preset resolution 1600 x 1200 at 60 Hz

Dell guarantees image size and centering for all preset modes listed in the following table.

louie_a,

Thats correct louie. That seems to be the max the monitor can produce.

I believe that what he is trying to do is not unreasaonbly impossible. I own a 2005FPW and with PBP (Picutre by Picture) mode, I can cram a 1680x1050 window into about 1/4th of the screen. Sure it won't look very sharp, but my desktop is still outputting that much information at once.

Also, I can set my desktop to 1920x1200 and what it will do is show only a portion of the desktop. My 1680x1050 LCD is just a window in the larger desktop setting and I can scroll around to see the rest of the desktop by holding my house against one of the sides.

So there, those are two ways to see more resolution than what your LCD can support.

Glad to hear that - is there a specific application to do this? or a specific trick (registry, etc.) to accomplish that?
