2001FPW Problem - Line through screen

Ok I just got my Dell maybe an hour ago. Everything is working fine (XPS GEN 5), but my 2005FPW monitor has a strange line through from top to bottom on the left side that appears against dark backrounds but barely if at all on light ones.

Anyone have a clue?

LifeForceDX,

It appears that your new display has a vertical line of pixels stuck "on".  You should contact the Dell Techies by phone or by chat to arrange for a new monitor to be sent to you.

If you turn off everything, unplug the video cable from your tower, and power the monitor on again the monitor's own self testing feature should come up.  See if the vertical line is there too.

LifeForceDX,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Here are some things to try and resolve the issue that you are having with the monitor.

  • Perform monitor reset on "All Settings"
  • Push Auto Adjust button
  • Adjust Phase and Clock controls via OSD
  • Perform monitor self-test feature check and determine if these lines are also in self-test mode
  • Check for bent or broken pins

Note: When using '2: Digital Input', the Pixel Clock and Phase adjustments are not available.
