2005FPW and weird motion blur patterns?!

Just picked up a new 2005FPW and I'm seeing something really strange - not exactly sure what the correct description for it is.

If I have a static image... lets say this page where I am typing up this message.  If I quickly scan the display quickly by moving my eyes left and right, I notice diamond-shaped outlines in the white background.  A better description would be similar to that of seeing a chain-linked fence.  The moment I stop moving my eyes, the background turns back to normal.

With a moving image... let's say that I start moving the scroll bar up and down in rapid succession, this 'chain-linked fence' is also noticeable (easier to see in areas of deeper colours like grey).

And of course with something having lots of movements, such as Dungeon Siege (RPG game)... while the whole screen is moving, the chain-linked fence pattern is visible.  The moment everything stops moving, the image looks just fine.

I wouldn't exactly call this motion-blur / streaking since I can see this even when there is no motion on the screen.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I have attached 2 screenshots I made with my digital camera just to show this.

I think the easiest way of seeing this is to sit close to the screen, say 3 feet, and stare at one spot on the screen (somewhere that has bright colours..eg white).  Turn your head left and right slowly/quickly and watch that spot.  That's where I start to notice the lines appearing.  The moment I stop turning my head, it looks normal again.

The first is of a grey background.  You can see the strange diagonal lines!

Here is another pic.  Notice the criss-cross 'chain-linked fence' pattern towards the middle-right of the picture:

I can't imagine anything like this would be considered 'normal'. Best to call Dell before too long and see if there is some setting that needs to be tweaked... or at worst case, to return it for a new one.
