PhreePhly,

In the monitor controls, you can select which video input you wish to use.  Check this link:

I had the same problem, if you set the 5700 to 1680x1050 and try and use the DVI it didn't work.  I could get the DVI to work in 1024x768, but you have to disconnect the vga (not just switch to dvi) and reboot.  The monitor will come on after windows boots the first time.  It seems that either windows or the card has to detect the monitor on the DVI connector and turn it on.  Then I had problems with the monitor unable to display modes that Dell listed on their website as compatible, but only when I was using the DVI.  So I sent the 5700 back and am waiting for a 6800GT.  =]

Captain,

Thanks.  Yea, I decided to try the monitor on my system (a 6800GT) and it worked just fine.  I ordered a new video card for my mother-in-law.  I didn't want to put this monitor on my system, cause now I have to get one for me .
