2005FPW ghosting and interference problems
I bought two Dell 2005fpw monitors in March 2005. Just recently, I've noticed some strange problems... different problems on each monitor.
The monitor that I'm using on my DVI port (I will call this monitor2) started a few days ago with this strange, noisy interference-like problem on the screen. It's very strange and hard to describe. I could take photographs of it if needed. At first the problem would flicker intermittently... but not it is constant. I can still see imagery on the screen, but where there are gradients of color, I see strange discolored dancing pixels. This I couldn't live with. I tried swapping the monitors around to feed monitor2 with a VGA cable, and the problem was still present, but just different. It made a more diagnal pattern instead of vertical.
Monitor1 (on my VGA port) seems to have a burned-in or ghosted image on it. It's a bit subtle, but I can read my email window (burned into the screen)... words like Inbox and specific email text... even the time and start menu appear burned in. This is easiest to notice if I blank the screen to a neutral grey. The strange thing is that I can see my email app ghosted even when my email app is not running (after a reboot even!). Ive tried swapping this monitor with the DVI cable and still the same result. From what I understand, LCD monitors don't burn in like CRT's used to, and still, these are new units. This shouldn't be happening.
It these issues cannot be fixed, I'd like to exchange the units, but I'm afraid that I'll get units with the backlight problem that everyone is complaining about.
Please help.

StuChudy,
Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.
Here are some things to try and resolve the issue with the monitors.
NOTE: When using '2: DVI-D', the Pixel Clock and Phase adjustments are not available.

The fuzzy noisy interference-like problem seems to have become worse. The monitor is un-usable. The problem even shows up in the self test mode and is now constant rather than intermittent.
I spent 2hours & 40min on the phone with Dell yesterday!!! It was a complete joke. I got bumped around to 4 different people, each of whom told me that I was transfered to the wrong department and forwarded my call onto someone else. All I want to do is have this monitor exchanged with a new one before it's too late and my warranty runs out. No-one could give me a straight answer! They gave me a case # of 097433329, and the last rep I spoke with promised that he would send me an email so I could send him my pictures of the problem, then mysteriously the call got disconnected. Of course, I never recieved his email. This experience has worn on my patience.
I am really hoping you can help me, or at least forward this issue to someone that can help me. Where can I send the images I took of displaying the problem? Can a replacement be sent out to me?
all the best,
stu

StuChudy,
You can email support@dell.com your issue with the pictures of the problem attached to the email and have the email technician setup to replace the monitor. Make sure you include all the troubleshooting information that you have tried along with the system service tag number.

StuChudy,
Do you have the order or customer number from when you bought the monitors from Dell. If so, use those numbers when contacting Dell.

a) ANY of the four people that I spoke with on the phone yesterday in my 2h40m call
b) the long, detailed email that I sent to support@dell.com
I really feel like I'm getting the run-around.
