2007FP Does Not Display System Boot Messages In DVI Mode

I searched for this problem but I didn't find anything.

I'm using DVI-D monitor input.  O/S is Win XP Pro.  ATI All-In-Wonder video card.

My screen is black during the PC bootup process and during the operating system load.  No BIOS setting messages, no display of options to enter BIOS or Safe Mode, etc.  The first display that I get is the Windows login screen.  After that everything is fine.

(When using VGA connection - no problem).

Why are the startup messages not displaying in DVI-D?

How do I correct without having to switch everything back to VGA?

Thank you.

This seems to be a problem with some older ATI cards in particular. I have seen posts where it was fixed with a Video BIOS upgrade.

gpro is right. I used an ati 8500 w/ my 2005fpw; and it wouldn't display the initial bootup screen. I then bought an ati 9800 for cheap on ebay and it solved the problem. If you're a gamer, you might as well upgrade to a newer card.

The bios update caused new problems. beware. I have a blinking monitor now, i have updated direcx, the bios of the card and drivers to the recomended in ati site. the monitor blinks when u ask it effort, games, video , and even scrolling a large webpage. i dont know from a DELL support source what new card can solve the problem. bored, i have asked RMA the monitor. They deny, they deny me support info and the rma. what happens with this monitor? shocked17
