2007fpb intermittent power off

Question

I am the second owner of this monitor, bought it from a retired army guy. It isn't likely that the warranty is still in effect and if it is, it is not likely I can get that info any way. I tried the monitor self check, which worked for a little while (a day or so) until it slid back into its old ways. What the monitor does is shuts off every now and again. It takes about a minute or two to start up again. Sometimes it shuts after a few minutes, other times a few hours. Sometimes it shuts off just once, other times several times in a row.  Are there any other fixes to this problem?

Sounds like an internal component is intermittently failing on this 8 year old monitor. The cost to have a local repair shop diagnose, search for parts, buy the parts, outweighs the market value of this monitor.
