Can you describe what the "crystalline" effect looks like.

I don't know if this qualifies as a "crystalline", but the A02 I have from China has a "mesh" like appearance anytime there's movement on the screen.  It's not quite a screen-door effect, but very close.  Once the movement stops, it goes away.  As for the text, I have trouble with the text being very pixelated.  I have a EVGA 7800 with the latest drivers and a 2007WFP A02.  Here's the thing...I had a A00 from Mexico with a lot of banding, but it didn't have ANY of the problems my current monitor has.  The colors on the A00 were sharper and the text was crisper.  I have a replacement coming my way.  Gulp!  I hope.  :)

That link on the "prismatic" effect is EXACTLY the problem I have.  I thought I was going crazy.

As for the explanation link, I'm with you.  Not very convincing.  I'm going to keep looking for answers.  Keep me posted.

hi Tycoonbrad. hmmm... the effect is not easy to describe... i'd say it looks a tiny bit like when there is water or a greasy smudge on a CRT monitor; like a "prismatic" effect that can be quite visible on uniform colors, like the green on this page...
And yes, i noticed the "mesh" thing too; i see it when i move my eyes quickly from left to right...

EDIT: ha! I think I found an explanation... Not very convincing, though...

That's just the anti-glare coating. Some people can't stand it, some people can ignore it, but there's not much you can do about it. :(

yeah, i know... anti-glare coating... I also saw that the apple monitors (working on a MacBook here) all have it. can anyone recommend a widescreen monitor that *doesn't* do that?
