2007WFP died

My 11 month old 2007WFP rev 02 doesn't power up anymore. It's plugged in as usual (power cord & DVI) but nothing is displayed, the LED's don't light up, and the buttons don't do anything.

I've tried unplugging everything and holding the power button for 5 sec but that didn't revive it. Still dead. Once when I did it the "4" light (input indicator) came on, but none of the buttons worked and nothing was displayed. I unplugged it again and since then it's been completely dead. Starting up the OSD mode (hold MENU and + and POWER) doesn't revive it either.

It's been working fine until now. The last thing I did was plug it into my DVD player (s-video) and watch a movie. When I moved it back to my computer it wouldn't even power up. No smoke. No sparks. No crackling sounds, etc. Nothing is displayed and the LED's don't work. Buttons don't do anything.

Trying to contact Dell support on their website is frustrating as they always ask for a service tag, which the monitors don't have. I'm hoping this post will get someone's attention and get me in contact with tech support.

Any ideas on what I can do?

bwaindwain,

* Disconnect the monitor power cord from the monitor
* Disconnect the VGA and/or DVI monitor cables from the back of the PC
* While disconnected, press and hold the monitor power button down for 5 seconds
* Reconnect the the monitor power cord to the monitor
* Power the monitor on. Does the Self Test appear? If not, get it replaced.

If you have a service tag number associated with your monitor, you may use Chat or Email support to setup the monitor exchange.

If you only have an Order number associated with the monitor, you must call in,
1-800-624-9896.

They will need the following information -
20 digit PPID number on back of monitor
Name, address, phone, email address
Order number
Issue
Troubleshooting done

Thanks Chris. I tried that procedure and it didn't help. The monitor is still dead.

I bought the monitor in Canada but I'm currently living in Nairobi, Kenya. Phoning Dell Canada tech support from here is not really an option. I don't have a service tag or an order number. Unfortunately I didn't keep the receipt or invoice or any other documentation when I packed up to move to Nairobi.

I took the monitor to a Dell Authorized Value Added Reseller called MicroLan here in Nairobi ( www.microlanafrical.com). They checked it and said it has to be replaced. They checked the serial number of the monitor and told me it is out of warranty because the date of manufacture was July 2006. In Africa, they told me, Dell only gives a one year warranty. But in Canada it has a 3 year warranty. I begged them to email Dell Canada to ask about doing the replacement anyway.
