2007WFP Warning

If you're thinking of purchasing a 2007WFP monitor because someone at Dell said the banding issue was "fixed" you might want to think again. I ordered one & I'm sorry I did. A beautiful looking design when the monitor is turned off, but the pciture quality of the one I received was totally unacceptable for one at that price. For viewing DVDs, it's really bad. (I'm not a gamer, so, never tested, but I would think it can't be good.) I shipped it back over two weeks ago after getting a RAN over the phone & I'm still waiting to hear from them on my refund. Big waste of time, plus, cost $30 shipping & insurance to send it back.

I've spent thousands of $ at Dell in the past, but no more. After I get my refund, never again Dell, I've seen enough.

DVDs will not look that great. Thats because LCDs bring out all the flaws in the format. A DVD is somewhat low quality. Try watching some HD material and you will see the difference. It would be the same way with any LCD. Also, Dell would have payed for the return shipping. I sent four back and never had to pay a cent.

You will have to wait about 30 days for your refund.
I am going through the same type of issue with dell.
After about 25 phone calls, and daily e-mails,I have given up on Dell.
It's off to HP for my next machine.
Hopefully after all the internal problems are addressed, and Michael Dell starts to fix EVERYTHING,this company will improve.?????
Take a look at http://www.newegg.com    for your next monitor

hmmm... I certainly no expert, but I've watched DVDs on my Dell Precision M60 LCD & they look far better than on the 2007WFP. Depending on the particular DVD my laptop display is pretty good. Sure, some DVDs showed a minimal amount of banding & sometimes unwanted artifacts in places. I could have lived with that, but some of the same stuff viewed on the 2007WFP looked terrible. Granted, the 2007WFP has a bigger screen. If that's the reason, & I'd had any idea that the larger screen would look so awful when viewing DVDs, I would have passed on the 2007WFP.

As for Dell paying for return shipping, I guess you were luckier than I was. I thought according to the arrangements I made with Dell support that they WERE paying return shipping, until I got to the UPS store & they said they weren't. I don't think I misunderstood Dell or UPS...

mike397x, glad I'm not alone, but unfortunate that Dell has done you no better.

Ironic that you mention newegg because I was almost ready to buy one of their monitors when I decided at the last moment to sprang for the 2007WFP because of it's styling, connections, & usb inputs. I'll be going back to newegg after I lick my wounds a bit & feel in the mood to start a fresh hunt for the right monitor.

yeah, rotsaruk

Good luck. If you are willing to pay a couple hundred more I recommend the NEC 20WMGX2. Blows away the Dell and any other LCD I have seen in image quality. A warning though, Neweggs return policy is not that great. They will only let you return if you have more than 8 dead pixels.
