2405 Doesn't recognize CF card port

I've had a 2405 for about 2 months.  THE MONITOR WORKS FINE. 
 
Originally, when I put a CF card into the port on the monitor it created a removable disk (or maybe they were always there and I just never noticed)...  I could then download the images on the CF card normally........
 
The other day I plugged in a card, and no disk........  No nothing....
 
I can plug a card reader into a USB port on the monitor and that works fine.  But I'm not getting any response when I plug the CF card directly into the monitor port.
 
This is NOT a Dell machine.  Its running Windows 2000 Pro.  What do I need to do to have the port once again recognized?

Hi, the Card reader does not need any drivers, and only supported by 2000 & XP. Try plugging the usb cable into another pc with 1 of those OS's. If the usb works and the card reader does not show up in my computer then it is faulty I'm afraid.I took delivery of my 2405fpw a few days ago and the reader did not show up in my computer, got  a replacement today and all works fine.
