2405 text problem - help

Getting ghosting/shadows on small 2d text.  Looks terrible.  Tried true type and standard, checked cables, made sure cables weren;t near power cords...

ATI AIW 129 Pro, analog cable, latest drivers

Should I get a card with DVI or do I have a defective monitor?

Do you have the monitor set at its native resolution of 1920 x 1200  ?  LCD's run best at the native, and somewhat lousy using anything else.  Do you have the DPI in Display Properties set at 96 dpi ?

Some video cards, specialy older ones may not work well on a wide screen either.  I have a small list of video cards that do work well and yours is not on the list, but its only a Dell list, and not all are included.  Perhaps you should also download, and install a newer version of the video card driver as well to see if this helps.  Did you install the monitor driver by chance  ?    Cannot think of anything else, except getting a better video card for your system.  What system do you have anyway and how much memory as well  ?

Good luck

Thanks for the reply.  I have a 3ghz P4 with 2gb ram (custom built Asus MB).  My video card is a dated ATI AIW 128 Rage Pro (latest drivers are 2001), but does support 1920x1200.  I'll try your recommendations on dpi and drivers (I believe that XP Pro simply installed the monitor and I didn't put any drivers on).

I'm looking at the ATI AIW 9800 as a possible replacement.  It has DVI output.  Anyone have any experience with it and the 2405?

Thanks!

Well I don't have a 9800 but just a lowly Radeon 8500 connected to my 2405 and text thru dvi is crisp and superb but thru analog (yes I have both connected) I get severe ghosting.
