2405FPW - Display Profiles
I'm using the Dell 2405FPW (DVI connection) using a type of KVM switch box so that I am able to switch between two computers using the same screen. The two computers are a PC running XP and a MAC G5 running OSX 10.4 Tiger. I have created my own display profiles, using XRITE Pulse system's colorimeter, a different profile on each computer. Whichever computer boots up, the ICC profile is loaded at startup and the color is perfect. However, when I switch for example from my PC over to my MAC, and then back again, the loaded profile on my PC is now switched back to the Dell monitor default profile (2405FPW) rather than my customized profile. BOTH profiles still appear in the "color management" tab in the Advanced Tab of my display card settings (ATI Radeon 9800XT) and the custom profile is still designated as the "default" profile. This same behavior happens even if I bypass the switch box and manually move the DVI cable from one computer to the other.
If the OS controls the profile which affects the color of the monitor, why should it not stay loaded when I switch back and forth? This is very annoying as I work with very critical color on both computers. Any ideas or help here from anyone?
Thanks,
Bob Rock

Thanks Markwell. I'm guessing that you've hit on my problem. I too suspected that it had to do with the graphics card, as my MAC does NOT exhibit the same behavior. I also have the same thing happening when a screen saver kicks on, and then I go back on afterwards. If I just set my monitor to "blank screen", rather than initiating a screen saver, it works fine and maintains the profile.
I should receive my video switch today which hopefully will solve the problem. Thanks for your input.
