2407 Card Reader question/problem

Hi all!
My card reader on my new 2407 monitor will read all my SD cards except when they are 1 gig or bigger. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I can read the 1 gig cards fine on my other readers.

Thanks!
Melody

I read 1giga SD cards with no problem but not 2giga . I guess there might be a limite over 1giga .

All,

I would need the exact model of the SD cards.

The model of my card is a Transcend brand 80X 1 gig card. It works great in my digital camera and is readable by all my other readers... just not the one on my monitor. However my monitor will read my 256 mb cards just fine.

Thanks!

Mine reads 1giga ScanDisk without much problems but with the 2giga from Memory Corp I have some serious freezes and sometimes ctrl+alt+del doesnt help and i need to reboot my PC .

yes that is exactly what happens to mine... serious system freeze with my Transcend 1 gig card. Always requires a reboot. I do get an error message - if it would help I will stick my card in and do a screenshot of the error.

Hi ChrisM, my test results with some SD cards:

Cannot Detect
1) Transcend 2GB 150x
2) Transcend 4GB 150x

Can Detect
1) SanDisk 1GB Extreme III
2) Canon 16MB

So is there any resolution to this problem? I've just wasted hours on this (thinking it was a general USB problem.) My SanDisk Ultra 1GB worked great, just got a Transcend 2GB 150x that causes my whole computer to come to it's knees.

I have the A03 version of the 2407, is this addressed in the A04 release?

Thank you

I have the A04 BIOS and I'm getting this problem. I suspect the card reader has problems with cards above 1GB but that's just a hunch. Until Dell officially confirms, oh well.

Hi, having this same problem with a 4GB card on a 2407 A03. How about an update, Chris?

Finally received a call from someone in Dell support and according to one of their engineers, the card reader is not able to work properly with very fast media, i.e. above 80x in speed.

Ah-ha!!  Well that would explain why my 80x card is a problem.  Did they say if they would be coming out with a fix for this?

Yeah! It all makes sense now. Anyway, it is something that might be addressed in a new firmware but too bad there is no way for us to update the firmware without changing the monitor.
