What system do you have, what video card, and what were you doing when this happen ? Playing games or just normal computer stuff ? Playing games at a high level setting on a mid to low range card can produce black outs or shut downs. Not having a good power supply will also produce these symptoms. Is your computer in a enclosed space with little ventilation ?
Is your system older now ? Have you cleaned out the case for dust build up that will cause the system to shut down ?
Let us know exactly what you were doing when this happen

I ordered it with the x1300 card and on the same day I ordered a x1800xt to replace it. As I acquired more monitors, I added a ati 9250 pci card and ran 4 monitors for several months, no problems what-so-ever. When I got a chance to trade some work for a 2407, I jumped on it and removed the 2 19s so that I could add the 24 to my 2 20s. The first day that I hooked it up, I tried some games, some movies, CAD work, photoshop etc.
the fist black out occured either with F.E.A.R. or with media center. after that it could be anything that set it off.
for a while I thought it was related to signal because it seamed that if I kept an IE7 browser open to a net2 page that was refreshing itself, the monitor seamed to stay on. but that theory didn't hold out.
I called Dell for support (ouch) no help at all. I also have a tech ticket in with ATI.
I have at various points in this process stripped the machine down to bare essentials and had just one video card running, but that still caused problems. I reinstalled the second card and had the 24 just hooked up to that one, with a 20fpw on the x1800xt card. it ran for a couple days fine but eventually showed the same problem.
I am having the same problem playing Warcraft. I use the DVI cable and it goes black after 20-45 mins of game play. I can still see some of the game but it is so dim you cant play.
I bought this one a week ago and played on it about 30 hours before problem happened.
VGA update: I used the VGA and had the same thing happen in about 30 mins.
DVI with adapter to VGA: Same thing.
DVI only: Same thing.
I use Nvidia and keep my computer spotless on water cool. Video card 7800gtx and runs no hotter than 60 cel.
Getting a new one from Dell. Customer service was ok, dont like that you cant call "Monitor" support direct. Have to talk to desktops.
well, I can't say that it is "overheating" because I've gotten it to go black after a fresh boot and being shut down for the night.
many times I can get the screen to stay on by having an IE7 page open (has to have a self refreshing net2 page open)
as soon as I close that page down the screen goes black.
It happens other times in other ways but this one is common.
I had tried to install a PCI ATI 9250 to run a third monitor and was getting blue screens, so I uninstalled the 9250 and the drivers and am back to just the 1800xt with the 24 and a 20. the 24 is the only one blacking out.
