2407 USB Hub Question

I attached the USB cable from the back of my PC to the LCD panel. I find if I power cycle the LCD panel every USB device attached to the back of my PC stops working. Yes, they're not attached to the monitor...

Ok so the only way to avoid this is to unplug the usb cable from the back of the monitor or uninstall all USB items from Device Manager and let it all refresh.

I called DELL phone support and the tech was too concerned that I had a whitebox pc and not a DELL desktop :P

Any ideas? I've never had a USB Hub before, so I'm short on experience on these, is this normal?

I'm not even sure if this issue is specific to the monitor itself but perhaps how it deals with a usb hub being plugged in.

I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe systemboard, it has 6 or so USB ports and it doesn't seem to matter how I have it attached.

No this is not normal, when this happens does XP notify you of a "power surge on USB port# whatever"? you could try getting the newest BIOS, but chances are its just win XP doing it usual messed up thing

you could try replacing the Windows XP USB Handler with LibUSB-Win32

http://libusb-win32.sourceforge.net/

but with this still in beta :tear: it dosent work properly on all systems, which could totaly disable your USB ports (system restore can fix this if it happens to you)

Hello,
I make this post up, because I've got a similar problem, and I don't know how to solve it:
only 1 of 4 usb ports is working, and no one of the media card reader.

I made this test:
I just connect the USB cable from my PC to the USB upstream port on the LCD;
I just connect my USB keyboard on the first usb downstream port on the LCD;
there is no other usb port used, on the LCD and on the PC;
My keyboard is working; but if I swicth port, my keyboard doesn't work, or I can't add usb devices.

the second problem is that I never made the media card reader working.
the driver seems to be installed correctly...

what can I do?

I try to contact the technical support, but I can't find the good service tag of my monitor: I tried to enter every tags I've seen at the back of the monitor, without success. any idea?

thanks
