2407WFP display problems!
I have a A03 2407 monitor, when i set my display settings to 1920 x 1200 the display is odd. the desktop extends beyond the screen - if i move the cursor towards the part thats not currently displayed by the lcd, the display moves towards that end. it is sort of like playing a real time strategy game where you scroll around the map to see whats not being displayed on screen. if this is confusing please ask questions to clarify.
my goal is to have 1920 x 1200 resolution with the desktop and everything within the display of the lcd. (basically display correctly)
thanks in advance

Try other DVI connection, sometimes it will just set itself correctly.
Let us know if it's the video card driver or what's happening?

hayfever ,
Try:
Use DVI input.
Uninstall video card driver
Use driver cleaner if possible
Install latest video card driver
Set resolution in video card properties to 1920x 1200 if it didn't default to 1920x1200 32-bit color automatically.
List your video card brand and model, like nVidia 7600GS or ATI 8500
KevinR100, ArchAnge1, gpro, SR45 and all, we should do a FAQ for this issue.
This seems to be happening frequently lately, couple times a day.
ChrisM, FAQ this thread after it's developed good solutions to the "scrolling because my desktop is to big for my monitor issue”, please.
Thanks all :)

I had that problem when I was swapping my dual monitors on the same video card. I fixed the problem by re-installing my video card drivers.
Also make sure you remove any previous monitor drivers as this could also be the problem.
Cheers,

Unanimous on the video card driver as the culprit.

i'm using a ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 graphics card
you're right, it is the driver. im using a third party modified driver (omega; because ATI doesnt support mobility cards below X series) and i found that other people have the same problem in the FAQ.
trying a less tweaked third party modifier now

the 'less modified/tweaked driver' is basically the standard ati desktop catalyst drivers (i dled the latest one, 6.9 w/CCC) enabled to be installed on mobility video cards. theres nothing special or anything tweaked about it. the mobility card is simply add to the list of devices to install.
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/
^that's the tool used to modify the desktop catalyst driver
and yet, there is still the same problem. i would pan left and right to see the desktop on (1920 x 1200) and..of course, everything is stretched horizontally. hurts my eyes =(
any suggestions? im not reverting to the stock laptop driver because i would lose the updates to a lot of games
oh, and my laptop doesnt have dvi out =/
is s-video inferior/superior to vga?

Off the top of my head, I don't know if it'll help or not but have you heard of Omega Drivers.
www.omegadrivers.net/
I guess a last resort would be to get an nVidia with DVI out if that laptop is upgradeable.
ATI people will have to try to help you here.
