I had a monitor problem about a month ago, and I found some test to run,before called tech support.
Here is one to set your monitor back to its default setting.
This is from Chris M
Run this application to restore the monitor to the Factory Defaults. Note, this application may not work on all Dell monitors. If it does not work on yours, let me know.
* Click
Here * On the left by the disk icon, click sofMCCS
* Click Run
* If asked, click Run again
* Click OK
* Check I agree...
* Click Next
* Click Start
* Click OK
* From your desktop, double-click the softMCCS icon
* Scroll down to Preset operations
* By Restore factory defaults, click the green Restore arrow
* The display will black out and then return
* By Restore factory lumunace/contrast defaults, click the green Restore arrow
* By Restore factory color defaults, click the green Restore arrow
* Close the softMCCS box
* Click No to KEEP the changes if asked.
This is a monitor test. I know it works in Windows XP.
