2407wpf problem: VGA Input not working; goes directly to Power Save Mode

Just got the 2407wpf this week and cannot manage to get the vga connection working with my computer. Everytime I turn on the monitor and start up my laptop, the monitor goes into power save mode. Only twice has the monitor recognized the vga input from the computer and both times, it kicked in to power save mode after only a few seconds (and before windows had a chance to even boot up). I have tried rebooting and unplugging the monitor and computer, etc., but nothing seems to work. I have also done the self-help test and the monitor recognizes the vga input (i.e., the vga input title floats around the screen). The s-video hook up works fine with my dvd player, as does the composite video.

Anyone have a similar problem or know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Dell Latitude C840
Pentium 4 1.80ghz
Microsoft windows 2000, service pack 4

zebtron2000,

Do you have another PC to try on the 2407WFP VGA?

Hi Chris-thanks for responding. I also have tried it with my laptop from work, which is a Dell Latitude D400, also running windows 2000 and the same thing happens--i.e., straight to sleep mode. What should I do? Both laptops are at home and able to try again.

In addition, I suppose I could ask to borrow my roommates computer, which is also a dell laptop (latitude, I believe).
