2707WFP Display - HTML and Applications Text Jaggies

Recently bought a 2707 to replace a 22" CRT monitor.

Like a lot of people, the brightness is eye blasting but even after tweaking this I am really disappointed at the quality of HTML text and text displayed in software applications and even in emails.

Running at 1920 x 1200 resolution (as stated as optimal on the user guide) text appears jagged, alsmost bitmapped with a horrible slight ghost image behind it - a bit like some kind of horizontal field needs to be adjusted to phase it into focus.

When comparing this to my old CRT running at 1280 x 960 (or lower resultions) the quality is not even near.

My prime area of work is web and interactive design, so I can't see me being able to adjust to HTML or system text from a monitor which should far exceed what I am currently using. Adjusting text to 'larger' sizes is not an option.

Am I missing something - is there a setting or tweak which will help?

Any thoughts welcomed.

Turn off ClearText in Internet Explorer/Windows.

Thanks - tried this and made no difference.

Still getting a ghost effect, almost like a slight emboss, under text.

markinvention,

Do you have any higher range video cards to try on the 2707WFP.

Hello Chris

On my Dell PC it's a Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS and I am also running a Sony PC to the monitor which has an Nvidia GeForce2 Ti.

markinvention,

I will ask the lab to check the 2707WFP with the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GS and the Nvidia GeForce2 Ti.

Afraid not Chris.

Chris - can you tell me what the native resolution of the monitor should be - is it 1920 x 1200 for Windows XP Pro?

Any news on the lab tests - would you be using DVI and VGA to test?

Thanks

markinvention,

Give them a couple of days. Both.

Hi

Try to use a DVI cord

I got the same problem in my 2707 and I've corrected it using DVI cord instead VGA. The problem yet is not present and images or text is perfect now.

The only issue what is annoying to me about this monitor is the slight image retention (not the typical image burn), is some like ghosting, most noticeable on black foreground with grey background windows, wich is like a "fade transition effect". You can reduce it just a little adjusting colors for a warmer set, less noticeable but present.

OK Chris - It's been nearly two weeks rather than a couple of days

Any news!

markinvention,

The GeForce 7900 GS worked on the 2707 and looked fine to me. We do not have the GeForce2 Ti. Please post some pictures of, "text appears jagged, alsmost bitmapped with a horrible slight ghost image behind it".
