Does this occur when testing the VGA port?

Sound a bit odd, but I don't seem to own a VGA cable any more. If you asked me 3-4 years ago I could of produced a box full.

But this did get me thinking.

I took the monitor and pugged in to a brand new dell laptop I've got. It uses an ATI graphics card rather than Nvidia and I was able to plug it in via a HDMI cable.

Then after 10 mins the screen went blank and the Dell logo came up before the monitor .... 'RESTARTED' and the picture reappeared.

If you think that trying with a VGA cable would be different to the HDMI and DVI-1 + DVI-2 I can try and get hold of one!

If under warranty, get it replaced. If you only have a monitor order number, you should contact UK Order Support. If your monitor was purchased tied to a Dell PC, you should contact UK Technical Support. They will need the following data -
Name:
Email Address:
Shipping address:
Phone number:
Monitor Order number or PC Service Tag number if purchased with a PC:
Monitor 20 digit PPID number found on the back on a label or on the slider card on the left rear:

Video card ports tested:
Reason:
Reason: S2709W Blacks out, then goes to Power Save
