2x U2410 color problems

Dear Dell forum frequenters and Dell personell,

I have had between one and three U2410 monitors through the years and have right now settled with two. I previously had tinting issues with one REV00 that I have since gotten replaced with a REV10 thanks to Dell support. My other monitor I noticed had pink/red tint issues so I tried to get that one replaced too, which went as smooth as usuall with Dell support, I got a new replacement monitor the next day. The replacement I got had faulty menu buttons, they didn't work at all so I had to bother the support once more and today (I called yesterday) I got my second replacement monitor.

My problem is as follows: http://imgur.com/a/uT9Z8

The monitor to the right is REV10, preset mode: sRGB B/C 50/50 (after factory reset)

The monitor to the right is REV05, preset mode: sRGB B/C 50/50 (after factory reset)

I got the REV05 version today and as you can see it's darker, like a grey-ish mask, than the REV10. I have an i1 Display 2 but I won't bother calibrating because it will not fix my problem, it didn't on my monitors before. I'm running a Z68 board with i7 2600k, 8GB DDR3 and a HD5970, both monitors are connected through DVI and use the default Dell U2410 (D6500) .icm profiles.

I'm quite frankly ashamed to call to the support again and ask to get it replaced... again, the UPS lady delivering the monitors is probably wondering what I am up to. My intent with this thread is to ask for advice, could there be another problem like cable issues (I've tried different DVI/DisplayPort) or maybe my graphics card or should I call support and ask for a replacement again, maybe this time a new monitor instead of a refurbished one.

Thanks for reading!

Hamit,

Those two monitors are in manufacturer specifications. If this came through us in the USA, I would decline another monitor exchange. Dell monitors do not have 100% backlight uniformity specification. As long as the center meets our manufacturer specifications, it is acceptable. We do not validate our monitors in dark rooms. We use office environment lighting. If the Brightness and Contrast are maxed to 100 and you measure the brightness difference of any two points on the monitor, the brightness difference will never be greater than 25%.

Thank you for your reply Chris, I will try to calibrate it and hope for better results.

I have a follow up question regarding the REV05 that I noticed since i got it yesterday. It has stopped working twice, the picture gets distorted, a green-ish inverted pattern and it goes black after with the on/off button still blue (on). When I try to press the on/off button, it doesn't respond. Shutting down the computer or removing the DVI doesn't help, the monitor is constantly on but not showing a picture. Both times I had to remove the power cable to get it to work again.

Ten minutes after I posted that comment it happened again, this time I recorded it and uploaded it here:
